I bought Borderlands and I'm enjoying it so far, but would it have killed Gearbox to make items pick-up on walkover?

Do you keep tabs on ex-boyfriends and -girlfriends over social networking sites? Do you think it's emotionally healthy or dangerous? Amusing or painful?

I have. I've gotten to the point where it doesn't matter anymore, and it feels awesome.

Friend of mine lost his shit at his brother when he noticed his brother looking up his old girlfriend, who was belittling and a complete bitch. My other friend and I had to explain to him that sometimes it took that sort of process to help get over a person, and that it could actually be a good thing in the long run.

It is traditional to politely golf-clap any time a film mentions the name of said film.

There is no mention of otakukin, however.

Bay Area Vampirism, Energy-work, and Otherkin Society (San Francisco, CA)

The Vampirism, Energy-work and Otherkin Society (VEOS) is a loosely-organized San Francisco based group. This group is open those identifying as vampire (sang or psy), donor, otherkin, and to those who wish to learn more about such topics. Other energy-workers are also welcome, so long as you have no problem with the vampiric side of energy work.

This group is NOT open to role-players, recruiters of any type, or those seeking to promote any form of religion (discussion about religion is OK, preaching is not).

Blessings upon [info]obadiah . Thanks to him I now have a functional phone (his old Motorola). This doesn't solve the missing iPhone problem, but does make things in the meantime much better.

In other news, I think my voice is sexier when it's hoarse. Which it is right now (thanks to the WFC bug).

Also, I've had this song stuck in my head since [info]kenscholes sang it at the con:

I shall tell you a secret now. I have always had a crush on Paul Simon.

Still no sign of my iPhone. And it looks like replacing it will cost a minimum of $249. Which I do not have budgeted. (Any of y'all with 3G iPhones eligible for upgrades? I'd be willing to pay the cost of the upgrade in order to get your old 3G).

However, while I decide what to do, [info]obadiah is letting me use his old razr, so I can at least have a phone and receive calls in the meantime. Woo! Yay for friends.

My dad was told by the doctor that he had 'environmental pollutant' bronchitis (which is not a type of bronchitis, but a catalyst for the condition) and that it was not contagious (which is total bull). That doctor is an idiot.

Also my mom seems to have it now, too. I'm surrounded!

Edit: Now she's hacking and coughing and doing the dishes and sticking her hands in the food! DAMN IT.

Nov 14 11a-4:30p, ~4-5x fairly intense 12 minute games.

Run by a friend of mine ([info]boyziggy) at cost just 'cause he's really hardcore into lasertag. (He's designed arenas, done international tournaments, etc. His day job is an audio tech for SF Opera, so he knows audio fairly hardcore also.)

Capture the flag in Junipero Serra park (OK, technically not SF but still close). Lots of gun styles from sniper w/ scope to uzi size. Team oriented, radios provided. Weapons recently upgraded to have instant hit feedback.

$50. Rides from BART provided if needed. Potluck food requested.

I have nothing particular to do with it (though I'll be going and helping referee), just think some of y'all would enjoy this.

I appear to have lost my iPhone.[info]retch came over and helped me look, but alas, it could not be found. Bleh. I don't suppose anyone here can recommend a way to get a replacement that doesn't involve paying through the nose?

This happened a month ago and i never saw it? Old news? Fuck you all >:(
This is from Conan O'Brien but conservative nutjobs LOVE IT and are masturbating all over it on YouTube. So it's hilarious x2!

Solving the gay marriage vote

Posted by [info]nasu_dengaku on 2009.11.05 at 23:21
I know a lot of people are upset about the measure that passed in Maine denying gay marriage.

My first reaction is that this will all be moot in a few years because as soon as some old people die and some young people turn 18, gay marriage initiatives will easily pass.  I do have some data to support that -- unless people who support gay marriage stop supporting it as they get older (which seems unlikely), we're just a couple of years away from having gay marriage initiatives easily pass in more liberal states.

To me, the anti-gay crowd has already lost the culture war, and it's only a matter of time before they're outnumbered.  When I was a child, openly gay characters on TV and in movies were very rare, but now they are very common.

So it seems like the path of least resistance is to just wait a few years.

However, I understand that this issue deeply hurts people now, and that they want to see the change happen faster.  This is totally understandable.  It seems like the key to making this change happen faster would be to understand what specifically causes people to flip from being anti-gay-marriage to being pro-gay marriage.  I'm curious if there's been any systematic large-scale study about what recent converts cite as their reason for converting.

Some ideas of potential reasons:
- Family members or friends who have come out as gay
- Human-interest stories they see on TV or in newspapers about gay people who want to marry but cannot
- Political commercials
- Fictional gay characters in movies/TV/books

If the causes are known, it's easier to come up with a strategy.  There are of course issues with the accuracy of self-reporting but surely some data is better than no data.

I do know funding has a big impact, so I'm curious if the various strategies that are used to impact funding are successful.   Are there any documented cases of companies stopping their political contributions to antigay measures after boycotts are put in place?

That's me.  I like being data-driven and solutions-oriented.

It has a well chosen target of 50k words. 1666/day is about where my mind stops working, at least for the first couple days. But then I just don't know what to write, I think that my main problem is that I'm writing a memoir and I just dont know how to fill a chapter on one facet of homeless life. This may just be an excuse for writers block though.

Added to that my sleep schedule is coming to a head, I stayed up 25 hours which hopefully will push me forward to a normal bed time again.

Sleep deprivation does not help writing. Neither does alcohol it seems. It's like everything I have ever been told about artists is a lie!

I have found the biggest problem in my writing is finishing long stories. The mere fact that I should write a particular thing, should finish drains the interest and creativity out of me.

If you could change one major thing about your life, whether a relationship, your job, your living situation, your school, etc., what would it be? Are you currently working toward a serious life transition?
